The Dhaka Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board has issued new instructions for irregular and GPA improvement candidates in the SSC Exam 2026.
The notification published on Monday (October 20, 2025) said that irregular and GPA development candidates will participate in the exam in the question paper prepared in the full syllabus of the 2025 SSC examination. On the other hand, regular candidates will participate in the exam with question papers prepared on a short syllabus.
Candidates who failed one to four subjects in 2025 will be able to take the exam in 2026, provided that their registration period is still valid. Students will have to apply on a white paper to the head of their respective educational institution by December 3.
The notification states that students registered for the 2022-23 and 2023-24 academic years who did not participate in the Secondary School Certificate Examination in 2024 and 2025, They will be able to participate in the 2026 SSC examination as irregular candidates through their respective educational institutions. They will not be considered regular candidates under any circumstances.
In addition, students registered in 2021-2022 whose registration period has expired but who still have failed in one subject except the fourth subject, Those students will be able to participate in the 2026 SSC examination as irregular examinees in failed subjects by renewing their registration period for only one year, with special consideration.
These candidates will also have to appear for the exam according to the 2025 syllabus (old). The GPA obtained by these candidates in the subjects they have previously passed will be preserved and their final GPA will be determined by adding it to the GPA of the subjects they participated in the 2026 examination.
Only candidates who participated in all subjects of the 2025 SSC examination and passed and obtained a GPA of less than 5 will be able to participate in the 2026 examination to improve their GPA, provided they have a valid registration period. Candidates participating in GPA improvement will have to appear for the 2025 full syllabus (old) exam in all subjects.
If the GPA improves in the results obtained in the 2026 exam, it will be accepted, otherwise the previous GPA will remain. The notification further states that for students of all academic years, physical education, health sciences and sports and Educational institutions will provide the marks obtained through continuous assessment of career education subjects as per the guidelines of NCTB to the concerned center.
