    Bangladesh ranks fifth in south Asia in terms of per capita GDP

    Bangladesh ranks fifth in south Asia in terms of per capita GDP

    Although Bangladesh’s per capita GDP income is increasing day by day, it still lags far behind other countries. According to per capita GDP income statistics, Bangladesh is currently ranked fifth among eight countries in South Asia. Currently, South Asia,Bangladesh is ahead of only Pakistan, Nepal, and Afghanistan in terms of GDP per capita.

    This information comes from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) Property Economic Indicators Report for South Asia countries. The report expresses that Bangladesh’s per capita GDP has been growing at an annual rate for a decade and a half, and according to the latest statistics, the per capita GDP of Bangladesh in 2024 was 2,625 US dollars.

    The latest ADB report shows per capita GDP from 210 to 2014, with Maldives ranked highest among South Asian countries. According to the report the per capita GDP of Maldivian citizens is more than 11,000 US dollars by 2024. Sri Lanka is in second place on this list, with a GDP per capita of 4,516 US dollars. Bhutan is in Third place on the list. Despite being a small country, Bhutan tops the list with a GDP of 4,000 US dollars. The next place is India, where India,s take 4th place and shows Indian citizens GDP per capita around 2,800 US dollars. Bangladesh is ranked Fifth in the list after India. After increasing GDP till 2024 Bangladesh people’s per capita GDP is estimated to be 2,625 US dollars which was only 882 US dollars a decade and half ago. Pakistan ranks even lower than Bangladesh, With a GDP per capita of 1,582 US dollars Pakistan ranks seven in the list. Nepal and Afghanistan are ranked seventh and eight on the list respectively, with Nepal showing a GDP of 1,434 US dollars and Afghanistan showing a GDP of over 400 US dollars.

    The data shows that Bangladesh is not making progress like other countries, but it is moving towards development and the GDP increasing day by day. The GDP of a country is determined by the total income of the country’s citizens. The economic condition of the country can be understood from the country’s GDP.
